Our street is organising a 'lights-up' party at the beginning of December (it's a cul-de-sac) so I think we will look very Scroogey indeed if we don't follow the street's timetable. When I was teaching, we would leave it right until the end of the Christmas term. We're not going to get away with that now!
There's a few that start after Halloween, but Black Friday seems to be the official start in the States. First week of December is also a popular choice. I'm hoping that I'll organized enough by then! I'm still moving back into my home office, which also happens to be where the tree is set up!
The first week of December does seem to be the most popular here too - just not for me, because I'm never organised. Haha! Hope the renovations are going well, Rita!
'Christmas shame' should not be a thing. I like to decorate at the start of December especially when the weather's been rather miserable like it was this year, but to each their own! I hope you are having a merry time, whether decorated or not :)
Thank you! I've started listening to Christmas music already so I'm getting into the spirit and hoping to be more organised this year. I hope you are also enjoying the festivities! :)
I'm totally with you on this Liz! We are always the last in our road to put up the decs and only bought (exceedingly modest) outside tree lights a couple of years ago. Winding them around our two trees at the front usually results in marital tetchiness as well as the real possibility these days that he might fall of the ladder and die. But we had nothing on the house before that. Our neighbours (who we now know and love) told us in the early days that our lack of outside lights at Christmas made them wondered if maybe we were Mormans.

A ‘lights up’ party sounds great!
Our street doesn't need much excuse for a street party. It's handy living in a cul-de-sac as we don't have to worry about traffic.
Enjoy!

Thanks Deborah. You've made me laugh! Pleased it's not just me. Haha.
